In case you didn’t know, the Aussies are bloody good at inventing things! From the lawnmower to IVF, they are a clever bunch, especially for such a small nation. Someone once said to me that people shouldn’t invent things because they are likely already thought of … yeah right!
I am down and out at the moment and totally bed bound which sucks, but it does mean more work on my upcoming books. But when the pain is too bad, then I can’t even do that… at which point the laptop goes from being my typewriter to my TV screen and I catch up on one of the only two shows that I never miss an episode. Australia’s SBS weekly show, “Insight”, is my go to for anything that should be discussed and Jenny Brockie and her team never seem to run out of ideas to talk about. She asks the hard questions and she puts the voices of people small and great out there.
A couple of weeks ago they aired this episode called Game Changers, and the whole episode is worth watching but look out for these two! Jess Irwin is one brave and beautiful girl, and Dr. Jordan Nguyen is an incredibly clever, generous, and not only all round amazing human being, but a finalist in the Australian of the year awards for 2017!
Between them, they are changing the world of eye controlled text-to-speech and I just LOVE Jordan’s vision of “A truly inclusive society!”. My passions as you know are about finding our voices, community, disability, and I am part Aussie… so this for me is ALL my passions rolled into one!
